Coach Juan's Corner

Hello PSA Family,

I would like to take a moment to Thank You for choosing to be part of the PSA family. My business partners David and Brenda Parker and I have spent some time speaking with many of you about your experience with us here at PSA. We appreciate the wonderful insights and valuable perspectives we received on how we can do things better at PSA. This has led to an increased focus on training our eager staff so we can deliver the very best swim lessons to your child. We acknowledge we have some work to do, but relish the opportunity to earn your business.

Many of you have inquired about the swim team options in Pearland and we want to help you find the one that is right for you. Did you know that the Pearland Swim Team (PST) and PSA have close ties? Eight years ago I helped start PST with the help of my friend Patty Sweeney. While Patty was in charge of the dry-side of the team, I developed the swimming curriculum and implemented the coach training. To this day PST still uses many of the same progressions we use here at PSA. And that has really paid off, because last year the team won the Clear Creek Summer League championship! I could not be more proud of them. PST is a summer league that trains five days a week during May and June, and has meets every Saturday in June. Summer league is great because all the kids in your family can do the sport in the same place on the same day. Every Child is a Champion
We know that not every swimmer at PSA will pursue a career in swimming, but to us Every Child is a Champion. To that end, we are excited to announce the formation of the PSA Summer Swim Team. This will be an introductory swim team where no one will be turned away and every one will have FUN!! We will focus on the development of all four competitive strokes and turns. Information regarding practice times, cost, and skill requirements will be available in March. For those that want try out for the more competitive teams, PSA is now offering a program to help swimmers prepare for tryouts. The current schedule for this program is Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 7:45 - 8:30 p.m. Be sure to call our front desk to reserve your time.

"Swimming Begins...at the Pearland Swim Academy"

	Coach Spotlight Kelly Moody has been with Pearland Swim Academy since it opened in 2007, but her career in swimming began when she was five years old swimming for the Summer Swim Club in LaGrange, Illinois. In addition to competitive swimming, she was on the water polo team and the diving team in high school and the diving team for University of Michigan where she earned a BA in Communications. Today, in addition to being one of PSA's most popular coaches, she is the mother of four, (ages 11, 9, 7 and 5) and still manages to be involved as a Board Member for Pearland Aquatics and the Pearland Parks, Recreation, and Beautification Board. If it involves swimming in Pearland, she is the one to go to. When asked about her drive for aquatic sports, she says "I have enjoyed a healthy, active life in and around water and would like to promote the life-long benefits of swimming, water activities and aquatic exercise to as many people as I can." This drive led her to seek the Aquatic Exercise Association Certified Professional designation and to start offering Water Exercise Classes at PSA. (Check with the Front Desk for class availability). Above all, she loves teaching children how to swim and is available to teach your child on Monday during the day.

This program is taught by Coach Juan himself every Thursday at 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. and not only consists of a solid swim curriculum, but also an in depth learning experience of physical education.
